Through our all-volunteer efforts, we provide essential groceries, emergency assistance, and holiday support to any Scituate resident in need - there are no income or other qualifications required. Do you accept food donations?
Yes — the pantry gratefully accepts donations of non-perishable food items* and essential household and personal-care supplies. Please ensure items are unopened, unexpired, and in their original packaging. Contact us or check our News & Events page for current most-needed items and drop-off details.
*We can accept fresh garden vegetables.
We cannot accept previously refrigerated or frozen items or nonperishables that do not have ingredients listed.
How are financial donations used?
Every dollar goes directly toward pantry operations: purchasing fresh, frozen, and non-perishable groceries; funding outreach and holiday support programs; and maintaining the emergency assistance services that families in crisis rely on. The pantry is all-volunteer, so there are no salaries or administrative overhead.Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes. The Scituate Food Pantry is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Tax ID: 22-3225700. Please retain your donation receipt for tax purposes.Can I organize a group volunteer day?
Absolutely. Whether you're coordinating a corporate team, a community group, or a school club, we welcome group volunteers. Reach out through the contact form at the bottom of every page and our Director of Volunteer Services will follow up to schedule a time.
What are the pantry's service hours for volunteers?
Volunteers are scheduled on our client pickup days: Tuesdays 9:00am–1:00pm and Thursdays 10:00m–6:00pm. There are multiple other opportunities during the week and numerous special events throughoyut the year.
Please note the pantry is closed on major holidays, over the Christmas/New Year break, and during inclement weather when Scituate Public Schools are closed. Check the website or our Facebook page for updates.
